History of Fat Camps

Summer camps for children began in the late 1800’s, but it was not until the early 1900’s that such camps became more popular for the masses. Theodore Roosevelt’s father founded Boy Scouts and fostered the idea that every child should have the opportunity to go to a camp if they chose.

From there the idea grew, and in the 1960’s we began to see specialty camps including weight loss camps for children and adolescents. These early camps were a younger version of weight loss spas commonly available for adults. Moms might go to a weight loss spa while sending their daughter to a weight loss camp for the summer. Before long, every type of camp a person could possibly want was available to the public. So you may wonder, what are some Different Types of Weight Loss Camps?
